What a crazy weekend! It had been 2 weeks since Torin had come out to visit. It definitely felt like a lot longer than two weeks. Friday night was dull, I went to bed early because I had to rest up for work. Saturday was a blast! I got home from work and Kurt, Andrew, and Torin were chilling. Kurt traded me some awesome cards. Went out for lunch. Andrew had work so Torin and I went to Disneyland. Wet met up with our friends from Arizona and Juan and Christa. (The Arizona friends weren’t my friends then, but throughout the day we became friends) After Disneyland Torin and I went to see Bent Life, Ill Intent, and The Beautiful Ones. The show was not packed at all, I was really surprised. Why? Because it was a Saturday night and there were 3 really awesome bands playing together. I’m so glad I went. Sunday work was super hectic. I had to stay late! I missed breakfast with my friends. I had to settle for a shitty burrito. Later Torin and Juan came over! We lounged around and watched the Super Bowl. Go Giants! haha that was my weekend summed up!  I hope all of you had a great weekend! Until next time… keep the edge strong and believe in yourself
p.s. Diaz got robbed!
p.p.s. BUMMED ANDREW HAD TO WORK AND COULDN’T BE THERE WITH US

To think that a lot of people within the MMA community looked at this as a lackluster card for the trip back to Brasil blows my mind. Yeah I’ll give you that there probably could’ve have been more star power on that card. But looking back now I bet that last nights event proved to be anything, but lackluster. From the Edson Barboza heel kick knockout of Terry Etim to the co-main event filled with controversy, and all the way to the Jose Aldo knocking out Chad Mendes in the first round. I love the fact that anything can happen in MMA. This sport is still growing and I’m happy to be apart of this. Also check out the full results from the main event below.
Main card
Jose Aldo def. Chad Mendes via first-round KO
Vitor Belfort def. Anthony Johnson via submission
Rousimar Palhares def. Mike Massenzio via submission
Carlo Prater wins via disqualification vs. Erick Silva
Edson Barboza def. Terry Etim via third-round KO

For being the first Strikeforce card of the year, it was a great night of fights! I really enjoyed the card from top to bottom. I’ll see you this weekend with more coverage of UFC 142!

Muhammed Lawal def. Lorenz Larkin via second-round TKO

It’s Fight Night! Gilbert Melendez is going to defend his lightweight belt against number one contender Gorge Masvidal! I’m really excited for this fight! It’s almost nerve racking! I want Gilbert to win, so he can show everyone in the world that he’s still one of the top 3 lightweights in the world. It really bums me out that he didn’t make it to the UFC, but I know he will be there soon if he continues to dominate all the lightweights in Strikeforce.

I don’t know if its the fact that this is the 7th fight week in a row, but I just realized how excited I really am for this Saturday night! Here’s a few reasons why you should be excited.

  • The Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz gets to defend his UFC title for the first time, also he gets a chance to avenge his only loss in his career.
  • The return of The Axe Murderer! Wanderlei Silva hasn’t fought since his unanimous decision victory over Michael Bisping  on Febuary 21st 2010 at UFC 110.
  • This might be the last time you get to see the Tito Ortiz fight in the UFC

Its going to be a great day for fights. Make sure to watch the FREE fights on Facebook and SpikeTV!
